Blog for the week.

I have been dealing with the same old same this past week. I have a new assignment for this up coming week. I am driving for station 2 with a new response area to learn and know. Like I need any new stress in my life right now but I will take on the challenge because that is what firemen dew. Like I said last week everything is not what it seems either. As I was sitting and watching the football games last night. The sound of cheering and moaning was broken up with the sound of old you know "DO DO" Engine 22 respond to a MVA (10-50). As I rush out to get on the truck I notice that i was not sure of the area of the call so I grab my map book and took a quick glance before I started the truck. As I drove the truck to the incident my mind flowed on the call and I was thinking that it would be simple, so I allowed my mind to slide back on the game as I ponder on who was winning. i wonder were the Jets making the comeback that I dreamed of. But when we pulled up on scene I notice that it was pretty bad and people really needy help and was hurt. So back to what I said everything is not what it seems so we all had to think fast and pull our minds back in to get the job done in a very timely manner.

  1. Hi Fred,

I think what you do is amazing! In my opinion, rescue personnel don't get nearly enough credit and appreciation!!! You put yourself in harm's way, give up time with your family to protect others, and deal with higher levels of stress and tragedy than most other jobs! I really admire you and others in this line of work!!!
